This painting is from when my wife and I vacationed in the Great Smoky Mountains for Christmas 2020. I was inspired by the contrasts of the warm glow of the lamp with the cold blue, yet luminous, darkness of the snowy landscape. One of the greatest feelings, in my opinion, is escaping and observing a quiet winter night from a warm place.
